Well, I am 2/3 there! Everything In....I just have to get the moderation part down!
No seriously - some days - that's what is like! I do seem to binge and in my head I am saying "don't do it!" "have a cup of tea or go to bed!" but nooooo.....I grab the chips and turn on the TV and off I go. What is wrong with me???
I just signed up with an online weight-loss trainer so this is my first day. I am already about an hour behind eating meal #2! Way to go me!
Ahh! On a better note - I checked my heart rate monitor on Monday and I had burned 2500 calories last week!!! Almost a pound!

This is hard!
Man! Writing a blog is hard work! Just about at hard as losing weight! It is kind of the same thing though...lots of great ideas and good intentions but poor to non-existent follow through.
I think that I am going to ask a friend of mine to be my personal trainer. She has successfully lost weight 3 times in her life- once when she first decided to get in shape and two more times after she had her 2 boys (one of which is under 1 years old!). I hope she says yes because I think that I need some accountability. I ate a whole banana cream pie (minus the whip cream and bananas) in 2.5 days. Mega binge...and it grosses me out. I seem to go 2 steps forward and 5 steps back. Disgusting.
We are away on a road trip and you know that is a recipe for disaster! I should have packed a cooler but of course got running behind and didn't. A lot of my problem in the vehicle is boredom. I don't eat too much when my husband is with me ...I always think he is judging me..but he didn't come with me and the kids this time so it is set up to be a free for all...help!!!

Fitness Freaks For Friday - Oxygen Magazie
I have a little magazine hoarding problem/fetish/obsession. I love magazines! I read fitness magazines, cooking magazines, scrapbooking magazines, general interest magazines, travel magazines, fashion magazines, gossip magazines...well, you get the picture!
Anyways, I think that Oxygen magazine is the most consistent for serious, useable fitness and nutrition information. I have tried (and like) M+H Hers, Fitness, Self, Shape etc. but always come back to Oxygen. I have bought their special editions but if you keep old magazines for reference, you will find that there really is nothing new in the special editions - they are just a collection of magazine articles but they are put together in a nice format. Oxygen is active on twitter too, I follow them over there. Their website great and I have subscribed to the digital edtion of the magazine but haven't figured out how to access it. I am not sure about their Facebook presence but they are probably there too! I follow them on pinterest but they don't seem to be too active...I should check it out a bit better before I say that. My only complaint about Oxygen is that for all its preaching about "the Eat-Clean Lifestyle", there is not one advertisment for food products - they are all (IMHO) quick fix supplements and pills. As I said, I like magazines, and in lots of other magazines - there are advertisments for foods - avacados, milk, almonds, etc. so why doesn't Oxygen get these sponsors? Just sayin'...!

Other than that - they are great! Check them out! I have a lot of respect for Tosca, Jaime, Stacey and the rest of the crew. RIP Robert Kennedy.

The Bigger Picture
For a weightless blog, you'd think that title might be a pun but it's not. I decided to not have any plastic surgery. We can afford it but I just kept thinking of what else that could be done with that money. I felt like it was the height of vanity for me. I know that diet and exercise can't do anything for my breasts but what a personal sense of satisfaction I will have if I can get the rest of me into shape by myself! I also live in a small town and didn't want anyone to know and envisioned myself wearing baggy shirts and what's the use in that?!?! I also thought-sure, we have the money now but what if there comes a day when we don't? We'll just sit and stare angrily at my boobs!
So it is a no-go for me right now...but what I am thinking of spending some money on is a personal trainer. I have not gained any weight in the last two weeks but I have also not lost any!
If I could design a program for me with a personal trainer, this is what it would look like:
I live an hour out of a centre where there are personal trainers. I would like to be able to meet with someone once a week. I would like them to come out to me twice in the month and I would go to meet them twice. Part of the meeting would be weighing in and measuring, part would be working out and this is what might be different than most trainers-I'd like them to help with meal prep for the week. All of this I could do alone but most weight loss programs succeed when people are accountable to someone. Plus, I am a competitive person and weekly weigh-ins with someone else would give me a kick start!
So in summary, no surgery and hopefully I can find a better place to spend that money that will benefit more people than me and I need help to get going on my way to fit for forty!

Fitness Freaks for Friday
I thought that I would use Fridays as my day to share some of my favorite websites/blogs/pinterest boards/twitter feeds. There are SOOO many great resources out there! There are so many people that have the same goals as I do, that share the same interests that I do, that motivate and inspire me! So many of them are more eloquent, well-written and knowledable than I am that I want everyone to check them out!
My #1 go-to site is http://www.get-fit-naturally.org/. She is awesome! Some hard-core, no-excuses, 'let's get our sweat on' workouts. She has alot of other good stuff too - recipes, challenges, product reviews and so on. I especially like to keep track of what she is up to on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/#!/GetFitNaturally
Lori Lanham is her name and she always has great info and a positive attitude! I think that I found her via a friend on Facebook sharing one of her wall photos about a year ago and I have been keeping up with her web-presence ever since!
I do have to admit I am not totally jazzed about her twitter feed but check her out and tell me what you think!
(Jeez! could I have used any more hyphens?!?!?! English major - I am not!)

Fitness Should be fun!
I am sure that you have heard this before but seriously - it is so true! I am taking a zumba class on Sundays nights and it is awesome! I laughed all the way through the first class and most of the way through the second one too-and still burned over 500 calories each class! And the hour went by so fast! I am just living for Wednesday nights as there is a group of moms that get together and play receive volleyball. It is awesome too! I was a big volleyball player in high school and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started going out. I even turned down supper out with my hubby on our anniversary tonight so I could make sure I was home to play! They will switch it up to basketball when that season starts for the school. I have never played it before but I think I will give it a try!
So I guess my point is get up and get moving with something or someone you like-even if it is not the trendy thing-if you still like your old step class vhs tape (and you still have a functioning vhs machine) do it!
Get out there and enjoy moving!
Ps- I resisted potato chips when I came home-aren't you proud of me?!?!? I did have an average piece of puffed wheat square though-homemade...does that make it better????
G'nite!

Mindless eating...scary!!!
I have been thinking about journaling my food intake as everything I read says that this is a useful tool and really works (and in an area where there is little to no consensus usually - this is pretty significant!). Of course to make it work you have to actually do it and to date I have thought about it abut haven't done anything! I was mentally journalling the other night and scared myself! I seriously could not remember if I had dessert after supper or not! I was raised with a dad that had seriously fast (and still does) metabolism so he had dessert after every meal (exculding breakfast only) and the rest of us just followed along. So when I was reviewing my day, I thought "and what did I eat for dessert?'" and drew a blank! I seriously think that I did have something - because it would actually be unusal for me to not - but for the life of me I couldn't recall a single thing!!! That is some scary mindless eating and it needs to stop!!!! I need to really commit to the journalling - right at the time the food is going in my mouth - not later - right then!!! If I can commit to that I can hopefully be more successful!!!
I tried to post the last couple nights via my BlackBerry Playbook in bed but it wouldn't work so I am a few days behind but hopefully I will be more regular here in cyber-space from now on!
